First post

This is the first post of the blog relating to the Cozine project. We, Melissa and I, are embarking on this because it fits well for several reasons.

A lot of what we do has to do with publication -- we design websites, blogs, stuff for print, etc. And we are often encouraging people to get into the growing movement of self-publishing (this is very close to my heart because of it's ability to democratize the world -- I think we should all be consuming each others content in place of, or at least along side of, "professional" media) .

And we are artists... so we are always kicking ourselves for not being creative enough. And we know a lot of people who are creative, but don't create as much as they would like to.

On top of this, we are itching to work collaboratively. So as we were talking, it occurred to us that we were in the perfect position to start something like this -- an amateur publication. The only "missing" piece was/is my learning to be good at being enough of a hard-ass to push people to create while being nurturing enough to inspire creativity.

So, here it goes... I'll keep posting here as people submit and I learn what the hell I'm doing. In fact, I'm already behind -- I should have started this blog a week ago when I sent out the initial invitation. The invitation was sent out last Thursday (Nov. 2).

Within the first week, we received submissions from two people. Though only heard back from about four. So last night, I sent out a second email which said...

"The submissions are starting to come in.

To those of you that have submitted stuff, thank you very much for
getting the jump on things.

To those of you that have not... remember that there are just three
weeks left."

This morning, I had four more responses. This taught me that being a pain in the ass is useful. Being persistent is motivating. Duh!

Anyway... you'll know more as I know more.
